2B STONE SUCCESS
2B Stone Chairman Bayram Ali Gedik stated that they founded 2B Stone in 2016 after many years of working as an architect and explained that the market had been experiencing a downturn for the past eight months.
Explaining that they initially started by finding high-quality products and supplying them to companies engaged in exports, 2B Stone Chairman Bayram Ali Gedik said, “Since I come from the quarrying industry and know the business from the inside out, I also began taking initiatives in sales. Today, 2B Stone is a company that is performing well in every respect. I had not initially planned to enter block production, but I changed my mind and started working with blocks this year. It is very important for me to create added value for my country. Although we have only been involved in the natural stone block business for two months, we have already reached approximately 50 containers. Despite being a much more labor-intensive process than the slab production we have been doing, I am pleased with our success.”
FEW BUT QUALITY PARTICIPANTS
Gedik stated that the marble and natural stone industry is a challenging sector, but that the Izmir fair had brought vitality to the industry, saying, “The market was doing well until eight months ago, but recently the market has started to disappoint us. I find the fair very positive because there are genuine buyers and project-oriented people here. Previous fairs used to be very crowded but lacked substance; now I see that even if only three people attend, they are professionals who understand the essence of the business. In order to see the industry from a broader perspective, we need to closely follow Italy, our competitor, as well as other countries. Turkey had previously won Italy’s customers by lowering prices, but now Italy has significantly reduced its prices.”
